Tips to give you time

to build a more profitable business

Why “Why” Matters (as a VBM)

Know your wht

The importance of ‘why’ is often overlooked.  Let’s be honest, you have more urgent tasks on your to-do list today!

But only in knowing your why can you really be true to yourself, and reach your full potential.  You’re worth the time it takes to find what makes you you, and draws others to you.

“Why” provides stability and direction in the chaos of life. It makes your grow by giving you the courage and resilience to endure tough challenges.  Money is the result of your work, but it’s your “why” that fuels it.

The Importance of Knowing Your Why

  • What you do is probably not unique. If you differentiate yourself, on what you do, it won’t be much different to all the others who do what you do. You are a VBM.  So are thousands of others across the world.
  • What you do is grey. Very rarely will your job title excite and enthuse someone to hear more. “I’m a virtual assistant,” does not make a crowd fall over themselves to learn more about what you do.
  • You won’t knock people over with your ‘how’. Describing how you do something may be interesting, but it’s unlikely to be jaw-dropping. So you take a group of tasks, document them, look for improvements into the way they are carried out, create a process … have your eyes glazed over?
  • Unless … You could be a mountaineer about to explore the sea bed looking for a prehistoric sea snake.  Now that’s interesting.
  • What makes you stand out is your why. Your purpose in life. The values that prompt you to do what you do and how you do it. Now that’s a story that people want to hear. When Simon Sinek says ‘Find your why’, he makes a big point.
